About Us

Our Guideline

Quality

Since day one, the objective and goal of everyone working at Maritime Laminating is to maintain quality at the highest level.  This includes improving the quality of customer's work that may arrive a little worse for wear.

SERVICE

No matter what our workload, we are always prepared to make room for the job that someone requires immediately  For the most part, we work on our client's turnaround needs.  If we have no time constraints, we complete the work within 10 - 14 days.

EXPERTISE

From the beginning, we decided that to achieve the best results possible, in both quality and service, we would 'stick to the knitting' and keep working to improve the process that we started with.  We are trusted, in many occasions, with people's cherished items that they want preserved and protected, making it important to get it right the first time.  Sticking with what we know best, has resulted in an expertise that has our customers coming back, and leaving, with a smile.

GUARANTEE

Shhhhh, this is not something we like to promote.  We prefer to keep it a surprise.  So, if you read this, please don't tell any one that... if you are unhappy in any way with your piece, bring it back to us , and we will fix it so you are happy with your Clearmount (no charge), or you get your money back.  Simple as that.

Where it all Began

David Langille and Pauline Kaill opened Maritime Laminating and Drymounting in 1985, in Seabright, Nova Scotia. At that time, a few outwardly similar 'alternative to framing’ products such as Perma Plaque and Plaquemount were available in larger centres to the west, but that was it, nothing in the Maritimes! David spent more than a year developing ‘Clearmount’, a superior, locally made product.

A Few Years in...

Framers such as Maritime Frame It, Frame Plus Art and Hall of Frames (now Secord Gallery) became wholesale customers. Corporate clients, such as as Sobeys, the Province of Nova Scotia, NSLC, to name just a few, found many uses for Clearmount and the many other products and services being offered at Maritime Laminating and Drymounting Ltd. In 2005, the company moved their production facility to a new, more convenient studio on Joseph Howe Drive in Halifax.  After 17 years at this location,  and a number of requests from developers to sell, we finally agreed, and in 2022, Maritime Laminating set up a new facility at 841 Cobequid Rd. in Lower Sackville.  There David will continue to maintain the guidelines that have been an integral part of this company's success.

Presently

David continues to enjoy producing high quality custom work for his many loyal customers.

He combines his years of expertise with his well equipped shop to create one-of-a-kind displays, beautiful pieces to hang in homes and offices, or sometimes hundreds of identical awards for mass distribution. David is always happy and willing to discuss your needs, and wants to find ways to meet them.

Production

Custom Clearmount is the process of taking an individual image, covering it with a non glare, 4 mil laminate and dry mounting it to a custom sized, bevelled and painted piece of 3/8” medium density fibreboard (mdf). Customers have their choice of over 40 paint colours for the edge of their pieces. If a very specific edge colour is needed, we can easily match and mix the required colour.

Variety

Over the years Maritime Laminating has Clearmounted photos, posters, art prints, newspaper clippings, child’s drawings, awards, certificates, diplomas and many other items. While most Clearmounts are straight edged, right angled pieces, we can also handle circles, ovals, triangles and irregular shaped cut-outs. We can Clearmount pieces of any size up to 48” inches wide by 108” long.
