Maritime Laminating

Specializing in Quality and Service, when you need it!

As the name implies, Maritime Laminating does exactly that. We laminate, and dry mount, for a client base that reaches the Maritime borders, and beyond. When we combine the above two processes, an end product that has a finished, ready-to-hang look is produced. We call our product Clearmount. Other companies call their product by varying names. You may recognize some of them - plaquemount, perma plaque, lamination, dry mounts, to name a few. Each company will have a different method of production and different types of materials they will use to get the results they want.

We have chosen to use the best quality laminate to maintain the colours that we are covering, and top quality dry mounting tissues to bond your photos, posters, art prints, newspaper clippings, child’s drawings, awards, certificates, diplomas, etc. to the very challenging MDF substrate that is the commonly used backing board in this market.

We specialize in providing quality & service when you need it!

Our customer base spreads across a number of platforms, the most challenging being the professional photographer.  Their need for exceptional quality when handling their prints requires no explanation, but you are going to get one anyway...  their attention to colour and light in their prints is a reflection of their expertise.  Our job is to mount and laminate their prints and not distract from their work..  Because we are able to do this, we not only provide them with an alternative to framing their work, we carry over that skill set to the other, less demanding platforms, giving every customer, professional or not, a professional, high quality look.

About Us

Our Guideline

Quality   Service   Expertise   Guarantee

David Langille and Pauline Kaill opened Maritime Laminating and Drymounting in 1985, in Seabright, Nova Scotia. At that time, a few outwardly similar 'alternative to framing’ products such as Perma Plaque and Plaquemount were available in larger centres to the west, but that was it, nothing in the Maritimes! David spent more than a year developing ‘Clearmount’, a superior, locally made product.

Services

Plaque Mount - Clearmount - 2-side Lamination - Dry Mount to Foam Board

Plaque Mount

Custom plaque mounting is just one name that describes the process of laminating and dry mounting your material to an MDF substrate.  The finished product is a substitute for framing.

Clearmount

Clearmount is the name we chose for the product we described in the above section.  Both services yield the same quality product.

2-Sided Lamination

There are times when your posters, prints, photos etc. are used for purposes other than hanging on your walls.  If you have a need to preserve and protect your item from water or excessive handling, then this service fills that need. Nautical charts, or maps, would be a prime example of taking advantage of this service. The choice of laminate we use is matched with the degree of protection needed.

Dry Mount to Foam Board

Foam Board is a substrate option that you can use if you want a light weight, temporary display that has a professional look.. It can be hung, placed on an easel or, because of it's rigidity, can be leaned against a wall or table..

Maritime Laminating has been in business for over 35 years, and in that time we have provided services that go beyond the list here.. Give us a call if you are in need of any type or combination of laminating and dry mounting services.
